Dr. Leah Papier - Veterinarian

Dr. Leah Papier received a BS in Microbiology from the University of Maryland in 1980.

Following her undergraduate studies she embarked on a career in the horse industry and received her British Horse Society Instructor’s certificate in 1981. After working for several years she was accepted into veterinary school and graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Upon receiving her veterinary degree she became the Director of Equestrian Education at Salem/Teikyo University in 1989 and went on to work as a relief veterinarian in Buckhannon, WV. Dr. Papier (Dr. P) began working for Roseville Veterinary Hospital in 2001 and since then has moved her practice to Plaza Pet Clinic in Winchester.

Dr. Papier’s focus is on preventive health care for her patients. In her practice, she emphasizes client education to help ensure a rational and thorough understanding of animal health and wellness issues. Dr. P. believes that veterinary care must not focus exclusively on science and applied technology, but should also have compassion and humanism as core values.

An avid nature lover, Dr. P enjoys hiking, kayaking, and camping. Warm weather often finds her kayaking on Lake Frederick with her pomeranian, Riley. In her free time you may find her at The Virginia State Arboretum completing her Master Naturalist certification or assisting at volunteer events with the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center.

Dr. Papier is married, the mother of four children, and lives on a small farm with a menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, cows, and chickens.
